On January 25^th 1999, a core of young people who had a desire to see a sovereign move of God on the Lamar campus began to pray and seek the face of God. They desired a setting where young adults from all denominational backgrounds, ethnic persuasions, and social classes, could come to fellowship, have fun, and most of all meet God in a real and personal way. What grew from their desire and God’s sovereign hand was called STAND 318.

     STAND 318 is a place where we as young adults can grow spiritually, build meaningful relationships, and develop a stable foundation in local churches. The mandate that God has placed on us is found in the word of God…

“But we all, with unveiled faces, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as be the Spirit of the Lord.”

II Corinthians 3:18

     The heart of leadership at STAND 318 allows young adults the freedom of reckless abandonment in worship toward God. Our generation is a unique genesis of young, strong-minded passionate individuals that are yearning for God’s direction. This direction comes from THE WORD. The infallible word of God is the standard by which we live our lives. We are not here to spit out typical “Sunday School” answers, or any particular doctrine, but rather to show the importance of being real, taking off the mask and meeting God face to face. God is “not confined to a box”, defined be religion, or limited to our social norms. God Is God!!!!

     Therefore, we at STAND 318 want to meet people in our age group (high school seniors/ college/ Career) right where they are in their lives. Our heart is to reach into their complicated lives and plant the simple truth that God loves them.

     This will provide a place where all the young adults throughout Southeast TX and Southwest LA can come to meet other Christians, as well as to provide a stepping-stone for those who are not yet saved to be plugged into their local area churches.
