Stand up and be counted! I did and it changed my life. Always being a shy person, I was never able to break out and express my feelings. Oh, I showed up for the game but usually left early when I saw that once again I was, or felt that I was, "locked out." One day at Lamar I stopped by a booth set up by Stand 318. There were a lot of booths in rows on the campus because of a "get acquainted" carnival going on. The people were friendly and invited me to a concert given by Stand that following Monday night. I decided to take a chance. At the door and inside I was greeted as if they already knew me and as if they were expecting me to appear. I didn't have to break any barriers and I was not "locked out." I started attending the meetings in the Science Auditorium on Lamar's campus on Monday nights. Going there became important to me. When shyness would return to cause doubt and fear, I still went on Monday nights. At the door I was greeted and hugged showing me "I was special." I have grown so much in Stand week by week. I am still shy at parties and get togethers but I always go and never leave early. A group of young people loving Jesus and having enough love left over to share with you, that's "STAND 318." Come join STAND and be counted, not judged." Rachel Cowart
