This month we begin our i2i column in which we interview area Christian leaders and their vision for lost souls, Jason Whitney from stand318 is 1rst-up .

The Link: What is you vision for stand318 and the young people of Southeast Texas?

Jason: My vision for STAND318 is to set up a stimulating and cutting edge platform that can be utilized by anyone (no matter what church affiliation or denomination) to launch his or her ministries into the world. STAND 318 is not another singles or college/career group, instead, it is a link that the Lord is establishing between the more dynamic programs that already exist in the area and those people who would otherwise not attend a “church” type setting.

TL: So, you believe that stand’s mission is to bring together the young people of Southeast Texas and the different ministries already here?

JW: Yes, let’s quit reinventing the wheel and join our resources. The bigger STAND 318 grows, the bigger those who are utilizing what the Lord is giving us grow as well. We are not in competition with anyone, but instead are asking, to coin a famous phrase “Help us help you!”

TL: Why Southeast Texas? And why now?

JW: The Lord is moving mightily throughout Southeast, TX. He is raising up a new generation of Christians. This generation is not satisfied with just saying, “We are Christians,” they are screaming for a real move of God. We can see the passion of this generation in everything they do. Young people don’t just get mad at family and friends—they lash out at them.
If one looks in recent news within their own communities as well as the state, he can see what happens when un-channeled energy is not recognized and lead in the right direction. Now, turn that same energy towards the work of the Lord—Think of the possibilities!

TL: What do you think stand has to offer the area’s young people?

JW: STAND 318’s vision is simple. We are supplying a link between this new generation of Christian leadership and those out there desperately crying out for someone who cares. I feel that if we can get those two groups together, we can CHANGE the WORLD! There is not a limit to the vision the Lord has given to STAND 318. But, we need others to realize that if we unite our efforts under the same vision there is nothing we can’t do. Deuteronomy 32:30 says that where one can put 1000 to flight, two can put 10,000. With all of the on fire area leaders joined together, how many would we be chasing? Think of it!
